Stage 1 – Initial Client Meeting | Briefing & Feasibility

This is a complementary first meeting to discuss your requirements and develop a design brief based on your aspirations and inspirations as well as your budget.

Should our fee proposal be successful, a measure survey of your house & potentially site will be undertaken (depending on size and complexity of the project an independent survey may be required).

Stage 2 – Concept Design

This stage involves the production of a series of concept designs which we feel best represent your design brief.

This stage may also involve 3D visuals and images to assist you in understanding our proposals.

We appreciate that your house is a huge investment so this stage is critical to ensure that you maximise the potential of any redesign.

The concept design drawings can be issued to Contractors to ascertain a ballpark budget to ensure that we are on track.

Stage 3 – Developed Design | Planning

After a further meeting with yourself the signed-off concept scheme will be developed for the relevant planning application.

We will deal with any correspondence with the planning department to ensure a smooth approval process.   Please note that an approval is not guaranteed.

Planning decisions typically take two months and are valid for 3 years.

Stage 4 - Technical Design | Building Regulations

Once planning permission has been granted, we will then produce technical design drawings / details and information to allow us to submit a formal application to either the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) or an Approved Inspector, the merits of each can be discussed with you at the time.

Stage 5 - Interior Design | Fitout

As part of the Tender process, we can assist you in developing the design of key internal elements such as your home office, bedroom furniture and most importantly, your kitchen.

Stage 5 - Interior Design | FF&E

We work in partnership with a number of interior designers and can assist you in developing this aspect of your home to ensure a fully integrated design.

Stage 6 - Tender

Following on from Building Regulations, the drawings and specification can be developed to further enhance the design package to ensure an adequate (and accurate) tendering process along with a seamless construction process.

Stage 6 - Construction

As part of the Construction phase, Matz Architecture can assist you and the contractor once on site via additional details, site meetings etc to assist the project running smoothly from start to handover.
